Dental sedation

For anxious patients that find dental treatment hard to cope with we offer sedation with our consultant anaesthetists, Mr David White, Dr Aubrey Baker and Dr Etienne Deysel.

Sedation involves the administration of a drug intravenously or orally which makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. At this point the dentist is able to proceed with the dental treatment. After the dental treatment is complete patients tend not to remember what has taken place while sedated. While under sedated patients are semi conscious and breath unassisted, as opposed to a general anaesthetic where one would be unconscious and breathe through the aid of a respirator.

Following completion of dental treatment the patient enters a recovery room. Once fully recovered the patient is then escorted home.
