Wisdom Teeth and Surgical Extractions
Wisdom teeth (also known as third molars) are the last of our 32 teeth to arrive and usually erupt between the ages of 17 and 25, but can erupt later. On occasion, wisdom teeth can erupt in awkward positions. This can lead to difficulty in cleaning the teeth, leading food and bacteria to collect and causing infection, pain and bad breath. If this results in recurrent painful swelling or dental decay, the tooth may require removal.
